Dressing for your body type: fashion

Dressing for your body shape.

Sorry for the late post but I had work! Following on from last week I thought I might help and also give inspiration to a new wardrobe for this years spring/summer, to know how to dress according to your body shape. Most of the time it is going on instincts when buying clothes. However it is always helpful to know styles that will accent your body when in a rush. I’ve listed the basics for you:

Pear: Lower body wider than upper body
When dressing you will want to emphasize your waist and arms. This is to make your body look more in proportion and balanced. You can do this by wearing padded shoulder sleeves, ruffles on your top half, darker coloured clothing on your bottom half than top, a line skirts and pointy heeled shoes to elongate your legs and make your bum pop.

Apple: most of your weight is centred above your hips which are narrow. Your shoulders and back are broad.
If you are this body shape you want to elongate your legs and show off your bust and arms, but also create the illusion of a waist.
This is easily done by wearing v neck tops, a good supporting bra, a belt under the boobs to create a flare to your top covering your belly thus slimming you. Wear short skirts to show off your legs, heels to make your bum pop and to straighten your posture. Monochrome looks are your advantage, as cheeky curly hair. Don’t wear long tops as this will make you look short.

Wedge: this is also known as inverted triangle. Your shoulders and back are broad in comparison to your well defined waist.
Again your best assets are your legs and waist. You want to emphasise your hips. Easily done all you need to done wear full skirts, dresses, low rise jeans and long layered tops. You don’t want to wear strapless tops or dresses, this will only make you look top heavy.

Rectangle: Waist, hips and shoulders all a similar width.
With this shape you want to create curves and show off your legs, arms, collar bones and neck. Scoop neck tops and collars are your advantages. As well as long jackets to give you a lean look. You don’t want to over whelm your style but you need to create dimensions. For example pleats, ruffles, layering and a good bra.

Hour Glass: Shoulders and hips a similar width. Waist smaller in comparison.
Your curves are your best assets! Bodycon dresses, high waisted skinny jeans, skirts and shorts. Wear belts on your waist and a good bra to exaggerate your dimensions. Light weight fabrics in contrasting colours will also make your curves look voluptuous.

Long legs short torso:
Your goals are to elongate your torso. Wear long tops, not cropped. Straight and flared skirts and trousers that are lighter than your top. Don’t wear trousers with a big waist band, instead wear low rise trousers.

Short legs long torso:
Exactly the opposite! Don’t wear long tops, but cropped. High heels will become your best friend as well long (not cropped) tight trousers. Simples!

I hope this was a help!
